Senator Mitchell burglary update

(MNN) – Senate Democrats have scheduled a hearing May 7th on the ethics complaint Republicans filed against Woodbury Senator Nicole Mitchell. Mitchell is facing felony burglary charges for allegedly breaking into her stepmother’s home in Detroit Lakes. Meanwhile, conservative media outlet Alpha News is asking a Becker County judge to make public the officer bodycam and dashcam video from the incident. Their attorney, James Dickey with the Upper Midwest Law Center says, “There have been subsequent statements made by Senator Mitchell and her attorney that appear to contradict the information in that complaint, and so the public has a strong interest in, really, just knowing what exactly went on here.” Dickey says they’re asking for expedited review of the request because it’s urgent the public have that information. Mitchell has been relieved of her committee assignments and removed from caucus meetings while the case is under review.
