The Becker County District Court has dropped felony burglary charges against 43 year old Bryon Christopher Hultquist of Detroit Lakes. Court records show that on August 25, 2022 police responded to a report of a burglary in progress behind the Design 2 Sell building on NP avenue in Detroit Lakes. The jury found Hultquist guilty of 2 felonies, attempted 2nd degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. He was sentenced to a year and a day in the St. Cloud state prison. On February 15, 2023 Hultquist filed a notice of appeal to the MN court of appeals they agreed that a “reversible error” occurred in the deadlocked jury decision. Rather than going through another trial the Becker county attorney’s office dismissed the charges “in the interests of justice” according to court records.
