MINNEAPOLIS – In a strategic first round of the NFL Draft, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, General Manager of the Minnesota Vikings, orchestrated key moves to secure what he hopes will be future franchise cornerstones. The Vikings traded up to the No. 10 pick to select Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, aiming to bolster their quarterback position. Later in the round, they further solidified their defense by moving up to No. 17 to draft Alabama edge rusher Dallas Turner. The selection of McCarthy and Turner adds significant talent to the Vikings’ roster. McCarthy, who led Michigan to the national title game, expressed excitement about joining the team and is eager to get to work. Turner, coming off an impressive season at Alabama, is ready to contribute to the Vikings’ defense.

Both players were introduced at the TCO Performance Center, where McCarthy shared his enthusiasm for the opportunity and Turner reflected on his journey to the NFL. Despite facing off in the College Football Playoff semifinals, McCarthy and Turner are now teammates and looking forward to making an impact together on the field. For McCarthy, the draft day was a dream come true, and he is already building rapport with his new teammates, including wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Turner, known for his disruptive play on defense, is eager to learn from the Vikings’ coaching staff and contribute to their defensive success. As the Vikings look ahead to the upcoming season, the additions of McCarthy and Turner are seen as significant steps towards strengthening the team’s roster and competitiveness in the NFL.
