FERGUS FALLS, Minn. – Residents of Fergus Falls have observed smoke emanating from the west side of town, confirmed to be from a prescribed fire conducted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Fergus Falls Fire Department Chief Ryan Muchow verified the source of the smoke, stating that it is located west of Fergus Falls on County Road 15. Chief Muchow explained that the light westerly wind has caused the smoke to drift into the community. He assured residents that while the Fergus Falls Fire Department is conducting small vegetation burns at Pebble Lake Golf Course and Ferber Park, the impact of these burns on smoke levels is minimal.
