The Detroit Lakes City Council has unveiled the design of the proposed $17.3 million Pavilion Project. While most councilmembers were in favor of the Northwoods Architecture Concept’s design, it was not unanimous. The design included vaulted ceiling and windows, improvements of the City Park next to the Pavilion, a new bathhouse, new playground, the addition of a Splash Pad Water Feature, a stage area and a town square with AstroTurf. The project approval will see the taxpayers supporting the cost with a half cent general sales tax, much like they did when the new police station was built. Voters will see this on the November ballot if the council is able to approve a resolution before the August 13th deadline.
