MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Moorhead High School speech team received a spirited send-off on Thursday afternoon as they departed for the Minnesota State High School League State Tournament. More than two dozen students were cheered on with cowbells, gift bags, and well-wishes as they boarded a charter bus, complete with a police escort, as they left the school. Moorhead boasts an impressive eleven #1 seeds in this year’s tournament, the most in the state. They are aiming to secure their 8th consecutive Class AA title.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at Shakopee High School, the tournament’s preliminary rounds kick off at 10:15 a.m., with finals slated for 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will be live-streamed around 5:30 p.m. on @SpudSpeech on X (formerly Twitter) and on NSPN.TV.
