Running Aces Casino has taken legal action against three Minnesota casinos, alleging they illegally offered class III card games. The lawsuit, filed under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act, targets high-level executives at Grand Casino Hinckley, Grand Casino Mille Lacs, and Treasure Island Resort and Casino. The lawsuit claims these casinos have an “illegal and unfair competitive advantage” by offering class III card games without authorization from tribal gaming compacts and the State of Minnesota.

President & CEO of Running Aces, Taro Ito, stated, “All that we have ever sought was to be treated fairly, compete on a level playing field, take advantage of improvements within the pari-mutuel environment, and operate without fear of being eliminated. It is our sincere desire to have our day in court and let the facts determine the outcome.” Class III gambling includes popular casino games such as slot machines, video poker, roulette, craps, baccarat, and blackjack. It is conducted under a compact negotiated between each tribe and the state government. Running Aces aims to recover damages and is seeking an injunction against the alleged illegal gambling activities.
