FARGO, N.D. – Seventh-grader Kaylee Trana’s artwork has been chosen by the city of Fargo to be featured on a MATBUS for one year. The city had invited middle and high school students to submit original artwork on the theme of the environment and climate resiliency back in January 2024. Trana’s winning design, titled “Far ‘Go’ Green,” features red pandas, which are well-known at the Red River Zoo. Her artwork stood out for its reflection of the theme, storytelling, community incorporation, and overall design. She will receive $500 for her winning entry. Second place went to ninth-grader Mya Houston, whose slogan “Conserve, Protect, Create” earned her $300. Elizabeth Toomey, also in ninth grade, secured third place and $300 for her piece “Grow Wild Together.” The production of Trana’s bus wrap will be funded by renewable energy revenues through the Solid Waste Utility. All 20 student submissions are currently on display on the first floor of Fargo City Hall.
