CANNON FALLS, Minn. – A police pursuit spanning two counties concluded tragically on Sunday evening as the suspect turned his weapon on himself outside Cannon Falls Hospital. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reported that around 7:39 p.m., deputies responded to West Concord to aid officers who had been rammed by the suspect’s vehicle following an attempted traffic stop. Cannon Falls Police Chief Jeff McCormick indicated that the wanted driver eventually parked outside the hospital and took his own life.
“There really aren’t a lot of details so far as to what happened,” Chief McCormick stated. “But it’s unfortunate that the gentleman ended up taking his own life.” Chief McCormick confirmed that no law enforcement officers discharged their firearms during the incident. As a precaution, the hospital was briefly placed on lockdown. While the facility remains open, patients may need to use the far entrance as the investigation continues.
