DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Calvin Larson, who dedicated 28 years to the Minnesota Legislature, passed away last week at the age of 93. He died at an assisted living center in Detroit Lakes. Larson began his legislative career in 1966 when he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives while living in Fergus Falls. After serving eight years, he took a hiatus from politics to focus on his family and business. Larson returned to politics in 1987, winning a state senate seat that he held until his retirement in 2006. His colleagues in the state senate paid tribute to him with a moment of silence, remembering Larson as both a respected colleague and a dear friend.
