MOORHEAD, Minn. – DeAnn Syverson, a dedicated volunteer with The Retrievers, has been awarded the April 2024 MoorHeart Award for her tireless efforts in finding and rescuing lost dogs in the Fargo-Moorhead community. Syverson, the only ‘Retriever’ in the area, has helped over 5,500 cases since the organization’s inception. Syverson specializes in locating skittish and nervous dogs, often traveling long distances to follow up on tips. She attributes the success of The Retrievers to the willingness of communities to step up and help. Despite the recognition, Syverson emphasizes that her work is a team effort, crediting both The Retrievers team and the community for their support.
