CARPIO, N.D. – An 84-year-old man from Carpio, North Dakota, died after being hit by a train on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred near mile marker 67 on Highway 52, approximately 1.5 miles northwest of Carpio. According to the Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a southbound Canadian Pacific Train operator noticed a tractor near the tracks about half a mile away. The operator sounded the horn and then saw the man standing on the side of the tracks. Despite continued warning signals, the train struck the man, resulting in fatal injuries. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
