ST CLOUD, Minn. – Fardoussa Omar Abdillahi, a resident of St. Cloud, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to the tragic killing of her three-month-old son. Abdillahi recounted in court how, in November 2021, she began hearing voices compelling her to take her son, strapped in a car seat, and leave him in her car. After retrieving him, she testified that she once again heard voices, leading her to fatally cut her son’s throat with a knife.

Following this horrific act, Abdillahi disposed of her child’s body in a trash bag, which was later found by investigators along with knives and bloody bedding in a dumpster behind her apartment building. She confessed to the crime to her mother shortly afterward. The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with intent, with a first-degree murder charge being dismissed. In response, Judge Sarah Hennesy sentenced Abdillahi to 21 years and nine months in prison, with credit for two years and three months already served in jail.
