Hunters in north-central and northeastern Minnesota have the opportunity to apply for a black bear hunting license for the 2024 season. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has allocated 4,030 licenses across 15 quota areas. The number of licenses available is based on population trends in each zone.
To participate, hunters must apply by Friday, May 3rd. Applications can be submitted online, at any license agent, or by phone at 888-665-4236. Lottery winners will be notified on June 1st and must purchase their tags by August 1st. Any remaining licenses will be sold over the counter starting at noon on August 6th. The bear hunting season is scheduled from September 1st to October 13th.
