A Grand Forks woman faces charges of attempted murder after allegedly choking her mother during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on March 31, when police were called to the scene. According to court records, Brianna Thomas threw a drink at her mother and then attempted to strangle her with a phone charging cord. The victim struggled to remove the cord as Thomas allegedly tightened her grip, causing the victim to struggle to breathe and experience twitching before the cord broke.
Police observed a red mark on the victim’s neck consistent with strangulation. A broken shoulder strap from a purse was found nearby, believed to have been used by Thomas in the assault. Thomas has been arrested and is charged in Grand Forks County Court with attempted murder and domestic assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
