A Waite Park man accused of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank and holding workers hostage has pleaded guilty.
According to court documents, Ray Rico McNeary entered the bank on May 6th, 2021, claiming fraud on his account. When the manager couldn’t find his account, McNeary demanded $60,000 in cash from the vault, triggering a silent alarm.
During the eight-hour standoff, negotiators convinced McNeary to let employees leave one by one. When the manager made a run for it, police arrested McNeary.
He pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery in federal court and will be sentenced at a later date.
