Fargo, ND (Valley News Live) -Fire Departments Respond to String of Rural Fires Near U.S. Highway 59 Authorities Suspect Arson, But No Suspects or Leads Yet. On Monday, fire departments rushed to extinguish four separate fires in rural areas along U.S. Highway 59 between Waubun and Callaway. The fires, believed to be acts of arson, have left investigators without any suspects or leads.
Becca Mccollum, a resident of rural Callaway, received a call from a nearby relative alerting her to a large fire approaching her home.
“We were ready to pack the dogs up and just go. That’s the only thing that was important, was life, everything else can be replaced,” she expressed. Mccollum, like many others affected by the fires, hopes that authorities will swiftly apprehend those responsible for the arson.
