Potential Agreement Reached on State Capitol Sports Betting Bill

In St. Paul, Minnesota, a breakthrough has emerged in the push to legalize sports betting, but there are still formidable challenges ahead.

Representative Zack Stephenson from Coon Rapids revealed a potential compromise with charitable gaming groups. This deal would allocate a portion of the tax revenue from sports wagering to these groups, contingent on their withdrawal of objections to the e-pulltab regulations implemented last year.

However, crucial details remain unresolved, such as whether Minnesota’s horse tracks or professional sports teams will be involved and the extent of Native American tribes’ participation. Stephenson remains cautiously optimistic, stating, “I’ve been telling people it’s generally about a 50-50 chance that we get it done this year.”
