The drought in Minnesota is intensifying, with the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor showing that the overall drought level in the state is around 99.5 percent. The most significant change is in the moderate drought category, which has increased from about 40 percent to just over 60 percent. Northern and southeastern Minnesota are the regions most affected by severe or extreme drought conditions.
In Douglas County and much of western Minnesota, the current classification is abnormally dry.
