What started as an ordinary Tuesday evening took a dramatic turn in Detroit Lakes when a call came in around 5 o’clock. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office sprang into action, along with other emergency responders, racing to a reported garage fire on Brandy Lake Road. As they arrived, the scene was nothing short of intense—the garage was completely engulfed in flames, a fiery spectacle against the evening sky. Despite the danger, the community spirit shone brightly. A male victim had been discovered inside the garage by a brave neighbor and family members who managed to pull him to safety before the professionals arrived. The victim, unfortunately, sustained severe injuries, appearing to be life-threatening. With urgency, he was airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man tragically passed away. Out of respect for his family, the victim’s identity is being kept private at this time. The response to the incident was nothing short of extraordinary. The Detroit Lakes Fire Department, Essentia-St. Mary’s EMS, Life Link III, Audubon Fire Department, and Becker County Sheriff’s Office all played crucial roles in managing the situation. As the investigation into the incident continues, the community stands together, supporting one another through this challenging time.
