The Detroit Lakes boys basketball team dominated the Crosby-Ironton Rangers on Thursday night with an 81-55 win in the final game of the regular season. The Lakers started an all-senior lineup to honor their seniors on senior night. Senior Mason Carrier made history by collecting 23 points, moving him to the number one spot in the all-time career scoring list, passing Laker great Joe Mollberg. Carrier now has 1,443 career points, breaking the previous record of 1,442. At the half, the Lakers were up 33-24 with Brandton Marsh leading the Lakers in scoring with 11 points. Marsh went on to finish the game with 17 points, while senior Devon Berg also had 17 points. The Lakers continued their strong performance in the second half, with Carrier scoring 19 points and finishing with a game-high 23 points. The Rangers were led by James Stokman, who finished the game with 18 points. The win improves the Lakers’ record to 23-3 overall, and they finish undefeated in Midstate Conference games (8-0), claiming the conference title in its final year of existence. Next year, the Lakers will be competing in the Central Lakes Conference. Detroit Lakes will begin the playoffs next Tuesday, and they will find out their seed on Sunday when the seeds are announced. Tipoff on Tuesday, March 5th, will be at 8:05 pm.
