ST. PAUL, MN (GRAY) – Minnesota Senate Republicans introduced a new agenda Tuesday called “Repair Minnesota.” According to caucus leaders, the push is an effort to “fix” several DFL-backed bills and laws from the last two years. “This year, Republicans are going to work to repair that damage from all the Democrats… done by the out-of-control spending,” said Minority Leader Mark Johnson (R – East Grand Forks). Repair Minnesota is a legislative agenda, split into a few separate bills. Primarily, the party appears to be focused on issues that have an impact on taxes. “The state budget is in trouble, schools are crushed by the new mandates. Minnesotans have less money in their pockets. The new agenda from Republicans is a fairly comprehensive list. They want to amend education funding to detach it from mandates, adjust tax amounts, and adopt a bonding bill that’s laser-focused on infrastructure. Johnson said. Republicans say fixing the School Resource Officer bill was also part of their agenda. That bill is likely to go up for a floor vote within the next two weeks.
