The Laker boys basketball team was nine points down with just three minutes to go against Park Rapids. However, the Lakers found some energy in the tank and made a comeback, scoring 79 points to beat Park Rapids 79-76 and clinch their 22nd win of the season. In the first half of the game, Park Rapids played with a lot of energy, and Blake Morris was instrumental in getting their offense rolling. He finished the first half with 14 points. Noah Larson helped the Panthers by grabbing six rebounds, giving them second chances. Noah Morris also played well, assisting his teammates. Detroit Lakes struggled with the 2-3 zone defense employed by the Panthers, but Devon Berg managed to score 12 points, all from beyond the arc. Mason Carrier scored 19 points in the first half, and the score was tied at 40-40 at halftime. Park Rapids continued to play with intensity in the second half, helped by Landon Strasburg, who scored 17 points, and Noah Morris, who scored 14 points. Although Devon Berg picked up his fourth foul midway through the second half, he continued to play and scored 24 points in the game. Mason Carrier was also instrumental in the comeback effort, finishing the night with 31 points. Tyler Bye scored ten points, while Brandton Marsh and Caden Strand chipped in a combined 14 points. Marsh led the Lakers in rebounds with 10. The win improved the Lakers’ record to 22-3 for the season and gave them the Midstate Conference title, as they are now 7-0 in the conference.
