The Hawley Nuggets hosted the Lake Park-Audubon Raiders in a Girls Basketball matchup on Tuesday night.  The Nuggets got off to a fast start and led 22-12 at one point, but in the final few minutes of the first half, LPA went on a run to actually take a 3-point lead at 28-25, but then Hawley’s Katie Vetter hit a 3 at the end of the first half to tie it up at 28.  To begin the second half, LPA went on a 9-0, to open their biggest lead at 37-28.  Hawley got on the board with 11:47 left and was able to piece together a run, in which they went up 43-42 and never gave the lead back.  Hawley went on for a 60-55 victory to go to 12-10 on the Season, LPA fell to 9-14.  Hawley was led by Junior Izzy Steer’s 27 points.  Junior Ingrid Rustad added 17.  For LPA, they were led by Senior Laura Schauer’s 16 points.  Four of the Raiders starters were in Double digits.  Earlier, this month, on February 6th, Izzy Steer got her 1,000th career point against DGF.  Steer was named the Muscatell Burns Ford MVP of the game.  Next up on KRCQ for the Nuggets is Tuesday 2/20, the Girls will be at Menahga at 6pm, as part of a split Double header by the Braves.  (Meanwhile the same night LPA is at Hawley in Boys Basketball)
