NECHE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – 34 more people have been detained at the U.S./Canadian border near Neche, North Dakota. 15people were picked up on February 6th. Just last week, 19 others were picked up in the same area. They are all family units from Romania that had made their way into the U.S. and were picked up while attempting to cross back into Canada illegally. Recent data shows an unprecedented increase in the number of illegal border crossings along the northern border. Immigration experts agree: One reason for the increased number of crossings is the amount of attention the southern border is receiving. Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner say, The states are seeing a rise in narcotics trafficking and overdoses, a rise in mental health and addiction-related issues, and homelessness. — all of these are putting huge strains on public safety.  the root of these issues to not necessarily be illegal immigration, but on drugs being brought across the southern border.
