Boys Basketball: Detroit Lakes earns their 16th win of the season

The Detroit Lakes boys’ basketball team earned their 16th win of the season with a 63-45 victory over the Park Rapids Panthers at the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse on Thursday night. The Lakers now have an overall record of 16-2 and are unbeaten in Mid-State Conference matches, with a 3-0 record. Although the Laker offense started out slowly in the first half, falling behind 4-0 in the first six minutes. The Lakers then went on a 15-0 run charged by Devon Berg’s back-to-back three-pointers and DL never trailed again. The Lakers were ahead 31-17 at halftime.

Detroit Lakes continued to play well in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 32-28. Brandton Marsh led the in scoring with 15 points. Ryan Carroll was the top scorer for the Panthers with 20 points.

The loss drops the Park Rapids team’s record to 11-6 overall, with a 2-2 record in conference games.

Detroit Lakes will take to the court again on Tuesday night, this time against Little Falls, with the game scheduled for 5:45 pm. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:30 pm and the game can be caught on KDLM.
