The Hawley Nuggets hosted the Pelican Rapids Vikings on Thursday night in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference and Section 8AA matchup. Hawley opened on a 5-0 lead, but the 12-2 Vikings roared back and built a 26-11 lead. Hawley was able to cut it to a 39-30 halftime lead for Pelican Rapids. Hawley did get to within 3 twice in the second half, but the Vikings hit a big shot both times and opened up another double digit lead. The Vikings finished off a 76-71 victory and improved to 13-2 and Hawley fell to 7-8. Brevin Stoa, for the Nuggets, lead all scorers with 29 and Timmy Guler lead Pelican Rapids with 20. Stoa was named the Muscatell Burns Ford MVP of the game. The Hawley Boys are off until Tuesday, when they are at Frazee. The Girls are at Perham on Friday night and return to Real Country 102.3 on Monday 1/29, hosting Crookston at 7:30pm.
