Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-

AUDUBON, Minn. — A butcher shop is searching for answers after meat was stolen from their building

“The theft of the meat was reported on the evening of the 11th said Audubon Police Department Chief Ben Weidemann.

Alsager Meats is right next to City Hall and the police department. The buildings are so close they basically share a parking lot. A large quantity of ribeye steaks were stolen from the butcher shop sometime after an inventory check

“On the south side of the building there is an opening that they usually board up when they leave. I talked to the head guy on the construction crew and he said that evening of Monday when they left they did not secure that,” Weidemann said.

Two boxes of ribeye were gone, weighing roughly 50 to 60 pounds each. It’s approximately $2,700 worth of meat that was taken.

Chief Weidemann is relying on the community to help him find out who stole the steaks.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information on the missing steaks is asked to contact the Audubon Police Department by phone at 218-439-6100.
