MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) – the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) released Minnesota’s employment numbers for December, and we now have an idea of how the job market went for 2023 as a whole.

Minnesota reported a net adding of 800 jobs in December, and now has an unemployment rate of 2.8 percent, compared to the national rate of 3.7.

Experts say that the month capped off a year of job growth, from statewide numbers down to the local level.

Experts say employment numbers have now reached pre-pandemic numbers, meaning they can finally stop looking at what was and start looking at what will be.

Good news on the job front but the problems with the economy still exist with high inflation, high interest rates, and costs of consumer goods like groceries and gasoline–
