Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes Senior Mason Carrier signed his letter of intent last Wednesday to dawn the maroon and gold for the next four years and join his brother Ethan as a member of the UMN Golden Gopher football team.
Carrier said multiple schools expressed interest in signing the him, which included the schools: Notre Dame, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, NDSU, UND and South Dakota State University, among others.
Over his Laker football career, Carrier amassed 2,311 rushing yards on 286 carries with 36 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Carrier compiled 221 tackles, including 21 tackles-for-loss, six sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.
In an interview, Carrier said the name, image and likeness money, the team, or the coach, never really mattered to him because he was always going to be a Gopher.
