Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Two people were killed and one person was injured during a two-vehicle crash involving a Freightliner Semi on Highway 9 in Kandiyohi County on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on Dec. 27 at 11:08 a.m., a 2023 Freightliner Diesel, driven by 67-year-old Bruce John Feldman of Renville, Minn., was northbound on Highway 71 when it collided with an eastbound 2016 Ford Escape, driven by 80-year-old Myron Eugene Elsberry of Cambridge, at the Highway 9 intersection.
Airbags deployed in both vehicles during the crash and road conditions were reported as “wet” at the time of the incident.
Elsberry and his passenger, 76-year-old Geneva Joann Holland of Cambridge, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Feldman, the driver of the Freightliner, suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the crash, but did not require a medical transport.
All three vehicle occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision and law enforcement believes alcohol did not factor into the crash.
