Pequot Lakes woman killed in single-vehicle crash in Renville County, west of Hutchinson, on Sunday afternoon

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – A Pequot Lakes woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 71 in Renville County, west of Hutchinson, on Sunday afternoon.

On Dec. 24 at 2:54 p.m., a 2017 Honda CRV, driven by a 58-year-old Mary Elizabeth Christensen, of Pequot Lakes, was northbound on Highway 71, near 870th Avenue in Winfield Township, when it left the roadway and came to a stop in the ditch.

Airbags deployed in the CRV during the crash.

Christensen was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the incident and was transported to a St. Cloud Hospital for treatment, but she was later pronounced dead.

The state patrol reported the road conditions as “wet” at the time of the crash and law enforcement have not made a determination of whether alcohol played a role in the incident.
