Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – The Laker Girls hockey team suffered a 5-0 home defeat to the Crookston Pirates on Thursday night. Despite being significantly outshot, the Lakers’ goalie, Talyn Anderson, delivered a great performance to keep the game close.
In the first period, both teams failed to score, with the Crookston Pirates dominating the Lakers 16-2 in shots on goal but unable to find the back of the net.
The Pirates’ offense picked up in the second period as Brekken Tull scored the opening goal, followed by two power-play goals from Adley Vigness and Brekken Tull again, respectively.
The Pirates added two more goals in the final period to complete the game, outshooting the Lakers 49-10. Jocelyn Field and Cassie Solheim scored the third-period goals for the Pirates. Crookston goalie Kambelle Freije earned the shutout for the Pirates.
With the victory, the Crookston Pirates improved their record to 7-3-1 for the season while the Lakers’ defeat dropped their record to 4-5.
The Lakers will play Thief River Falls on the road tonight after the loss to the Pirates.
