Volleyball: Hawley defeats Perham 3-1; hosts Pelican Rapids Oct. 17

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KRCQ) – In a Big Section 8AA matchup Thursday night, the Hawley Nuggets traveled to the Hive in Perham to take on the Yellowjackets.

Hawley beat Perham in Hawley and also at the Perham Tournament earlier this season.

Thursday night’s matchup was the Big section game of the year.

In a back and forth matchup in the first set, Perham won 6 of the last 7 points to break the 19 tie and win 25-20.  The 2^nd set belong all to the Hawley Nuggets and took control early and won 25-9, to tie the contest at 1-1.

The 3^rd and 4^th sets were back and forth, with many ties, as Hawley broke the 23-23 tie with the final 2 points to go up 2-1, with a 25-23 victory.

The 4^th set was pretty much the same thing as each team and opportunities to win, but ties of 21/22/23/24/25/26, lead to Hawley winning the last 2 points, to close out a 3-1 win….20-25, 25-9, 25-23 and 28-26.

Hawley improves to 17-4 and Perham falls to 17-10, in their last game of the regular season.

Hawley hosts Pelican Rapids on KRCQ, Tuesday night and then are at Fergus Falls on Thursday of next week, for a Big Tournament.
