Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – A Detroit Lakes man has been charged with making felony threats of violence at Detroit Country Club in August.
According to court records, on Aug. 9, Becker County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at the golf course where they encountered 40-year-old Nicholas Lorin Bromeling of Detroit Lakes.
Witnesses said Bromeling stopped at the golf course and told a supervisor that he was upset with golfers parking in his driveway.
The supervisor said Bromeling’s behavior is erratic and known to the country club.
After the supervisor told him he needed help and to leave the property, Bromeling then threatened to fight the supervisor and said he was going to burn down their house.
Bromeling then returned to his residence and, according to another emergency call from a neighbor, began hitting golf balls towards golfers across the street while yelling and using vulgar language.
A deputy then interviewed Bromeling who confirmed he had spoken to the golf course supervisor and that he was agitated when he was told to “get help”. He also admitted to threatening the supervisor with burning down their house.
He was arrested and posted a $1,000 cash bail.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 2.
