Detroit Lakes Cross Country Teams Place Sixth At Home Meet

Detroit Lakes, Minn (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Cross Country teams hosted their lone home meet of the season on Thursday afternoon at the Lakeview Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, with both teams finishing in sixth place in their respective races.

Braydon Francis led the Laker boys with a 19th-place finish and a time of 19:38. Micah Barberg finished 25th overall with a time of 20:08, Ben Sundby was 33rd (21:05), Peyton Malecka was 38th (22:04), and Hunter Olson was 40th (22:35) to give the Lakers 155 total points. Fergus Falls junior Jaden Miller won the race with a time of 17:24.

In the girls race, Natalie Mohr finished 19th with a time of 23:17. Karlie Skarie was the second Laker in with a 29th place finish and a time of 26:05. Lila Kallstrom was 31st (26:29, Isla Pender was 37th (27:54), and Brynn Erickson was 43rd (34:49) to give the Lakers 159 points. Alexandria placed four runners in the top five, led by standout sophomore Citori Halbe, who finished the race in 20:00.

Next up for Laker cross country: The Lucky Lindy Meet in Little Falls on Thursday, September 14th. Races begin at 4:00.
