Motorcyclist Killed In Becker County While Fleeing State Trooper

Detroit Lakes, Minn (KDLM) – Authorities in Becker County say they are investigating the weekend death of a motorcyclist who led state troopers on a chase.

In a press release, the Becker County Sheriff’s says that a Minnesota State Patrol squad car tried to stop the cycle Friday night around 6:15 on County Highway 29 near the intersection of Highway 54, but the suspect failed to pull over and accelerated at a high rate of speed. The trooper lost sight of the motorcycle as it continued south on County 29. After searching the area, the trooper located the motorcycle where it had left the highway on a corner about a mile and a half south of County 54. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Levi Savela of Sebeka, was found dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
