Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Pine Point murder suspect Michael Croud was arrested after turning himself in to law enforcement in Los Angeles, California.
According to a Becker County Sheriff’s Office news release, the Minnesota Department of Corrections and county sheriff’s office were informed of the apprehension on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old Croud has been accused of killing his cousin, 35-year-old David Hanks, while he was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle outside a Pine Point residence on June 25.
Croud had been on the run from law enforcement ever since.
According to WDAY, a witness told police that Croud shot Hanks several times while he was inside the vehicle.
Croud was on parole at the time of the killing for a previous Mahnomen County assault and was issued an arrested warrant for violating parole days before the Pine Point shooting.
Croud is currently awaiting extradition back to Minnesota.
