UPDATED: Woman found dead, suspect in custody following standoff near Perham

UPDATED (4:15 p.m.) — A woman has been found deceased and a male was taken into custody after a standoff in Otter Tail County at a residence near Big Pine Lake.

Around 10:30 a.m., the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a male had hurt a woman and she was dead.

The names of the male who was taken into custody and the female who was found deceased have not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.

UPDATED (1:23 p.m.) — Members of the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office have begun evacuating nearby residences as a stand-off continues at a home on Big Pine Lake near Perham.

Law enforcement wants nearby homeowners to wait until a deputy comes to their door to evacuate them and not leave their homes on their own.

Law enforcement has a residence near 428th Street surrounded and has been seen wearing tactical gear.

PERHAM, MN (KDLM) – The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office is currently responding to a situation on Big Pine Lake near Perham.

Sources tell KDLM that law enforcement may be dealing with a standoff situation with a suspect contained in a house and surrounded by enforcement in full tactical gear.

Residents have been asked to stay away as a precaution to the incident. Roads near the crime scene are blocked off.
