MOORHEAD, MINN (KDLM) -Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced that former North Dakota State golfer Maddie Herzog has been hired as the new head coach for the Cobber women’s golf program.

Herzog, who played for the Bison for five seasons, becomes the seventh head coach in the storied history of the women’s golf team, which has won 11 MIAC championships – the most of any school in the conference.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with a great team and staff,” Herzog said. “I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with the team to improve their skills and compete.”

Herzog was a Women’s Golf Coaches Association of America (WGCA) All-American Scholar in 2022 and was named to the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence that same season. Herzog finished her career as a 3-time Summit League Academic Honor Roll award winner.

Herzog graduated from NDSU with a degree in Business Administration and Management and is currently working on starting a seal coating business with Herzog Seal Coating.

Herzog excelled as a high school student-athlete at Detroit Lakes where she finished in the Top 10 at the Minnesota State High School Tournament in both her junior and senior seasons and was a finalist for Ms. Minnesota golf as a senior. During her senior season, she was captain of the team and won eight tournaments during the year. Herzog was also a member of the Lakers squads that won three state championships.

Herzog will begin her position as head coach at the beginning of August.
