Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – A man was found dead in a vehicle of a gunshot wound near the village of Pine Point in Becker County on Sunday evening.
According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, on June 25 at 6:38 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a report of an individual who was found shot in a vehicle in the village.
Upon arrival, deputies found the deceased male victim and noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the scene.
Investigators would like anyone who sees a gray, Pontiac G6 with White Earth license plate number 22079, to contact the Becker County Sheriff’s Office immediately at: 218-847-2661.
Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander said law enforcement would like the location and direction of travel included with any tips about the Pontiac G6, but members of the public should not put themselves in harm’s way for the information.
“Number one, we want people to be safe, and we don’t want them to put themselves in any position where it could cause harm to them,” said Glander. “If the (public) sees that vehicle, the best thing they can do is give us the location of where it was seen, the direction of travel, and call us immediately.”
The identity of the victim will be released once a medical examination is completed and law enforcement stated they believe this to be an isolated incident with no additional threat to the public.
“We believe that this is an isolated incident,” said Glander. “And because of that, we believe there is no further danger to the public, but, obviously, we don’t want people to put themselves in harm’s way either.”
Multiple law enforcement agencies as well as the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension isĀ assistingĀ the Becker County Sheriff’s Office with their ongoing investigation.
