Ryan Pitches Twins First Complete Game Shutout In Five Seasons

In a dominant performance, Joe Ryan pitched a three-hit shutout for the Minnesota Twins as they defeated the Boston Red Sox 6-0. This marked the Twins’ first complete-game shutout in five years. Ryan recorded his first complete game in his 47th big league start, striking out nine batters and not allowing a walk. Byron Buxton provided the offensive fireworks, becoming the first player in at least nine seasons to hit two 460-foot home runs in a single game.  With the win, the Twins improved to a .500 record of 38-38 and currently lead the AL Central division.  The Twins were 5-5 during their 10-game home stand. They now head on the road for a nine-game road trip that will take them to Detroit, Baltimore and Atlanta. First up: three games in Detroit. Game one is at 5:40 tonight. Kenta Maeda will make his return to the starting lineup for the Twins.

Twins sign former Cy Young winner Keuchel to minor league deal

Former American League Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel has agreed to a minor league contract with Minnesota. The 35-year-old left-hander was 2-9 with a 9.20 ERA in 14 starts last year with the Chicago White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers. A two-time All-Star and 2015 AL Cy Young Award winner, Keuchel is 101-91 with a 3.98 ERA in 257 starts and 11 relief appearances.

Wolves draft Miller, Clark in Second Round of 2023 NBA Draft

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded two future second-round picks to the Spurs to obtain the No. 33 pick in the NBA Draft and they used the selection on G League Ignite star forward Leonard Miller.

The 19-year-old is 6-foot-10 but grew up playing guard before a late growth spurt. In the G League last season, he averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds. According to a scouting report from the Toronto Sun, Miller has “one of the highest” ceilings of any player in the draft.

With the 53rd pick, the Wolves selected 21-year-old guard Jaylen Clark from UCLA. Clark, 6-foot-5 combo guard who was the National Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game on his way to All-Pac-12 honors in the 2022-23 season. Clark was a two-time Pac-12 All-Defensive player in his three seasons at UCLA.

NDSU Football Gets Commitment from Three-Star South Dakota Tight End

Jett Zabel, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound tight end from T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, South Dakota, has committed to North Dakota State University (NDSU) as the latest addition to their football program. Zabel received nine FBS offers from schools such as Pittsburgh, Alabama Birmingham, Army, Coastal Carolina, Western Michigan, Memphis, Wyoming, and Ball State, along with an offer from the University of South Dakota. He had a total of 10 offers and recently took an official visit to NDSU. Last season, he played a key role in helping his high school team, the Governors, achieve a perfect 12-0 record and win the South Dakota State 11AA state championship. Zabel’s quarterback, Lincoln Kienholz, garnered significant attention and committed to Ohio State. As one of Kienholz’s favorite targets, Zabel had an impressive performance with 54 receptions for 842 yards and 13 touchdowns. With his commitment to NDSU, Zabel is expected to compete for a starting position in the upcoming season.
