Prior Lake, Minn (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes senior Kira Wolf won the state girls Trap Shooting Championship at the state meet today. The Detroit Lakes Trap team also placed 21st out of the 40 teams.
Wolf hit 99 of 100 birds on Friday to win the state championship, edging out three other shooters at 98. Mikayla Engum, also of Detroit Lakes, tied for 21st with a 91.

In the boy’s shoot, Tatyon Schmidt (Wheaton), Keith Rollins (Staples-Motley), Levi Jensrud (Fertile-Beltrami), Alex Eischens (Park Rapids), Taylor Kehoe (Bemidji), Wyatt Olson (Sebeka), and Aaron McDonald (Park Rapids) all tied for 13th with a 98; Carter Haverkamp (Detroit Lakes) tied for 30th with a 97; Jack Siegel (Wheaton) and Kyle Tolifson (Wheaton) tied for 30th with a 97; Bode Roberts (NYM) tied for 62nd with a 94; Karsyn Peterson (LPA), Simon Snyder (NYM) and Drake Berning (Wheaton) tied for 72nd with a 93; Tyler Jacobson (LPA) finished 97th with an 85; Reid Judd (Staples-Motley) finished 99th with a 78.
The Lakers shot a 471 as a team, led by Carter Haverkamp’s 99 (25/24/25/25). James Schattschnieder hit 96 targets (25/23/24/24), Kira Wolf hit 95 (22/24/25/24), Cameron Akers hit 95 targets (24/23/24/24), and Owen Chiodo hit 86 (20/23/23/20).
United South Central won the state championship with a 484. Fairmont was second (482), and Roseau took third (482).
Alexandria placed sixth (480), Bemidji was ninth (477), Minnewaska was 12th (477), Park Rapids was 23rd (469), Thief River Falls was 24th (466), and Wheaton was 34th (456).
