Project 412 launches Detroit Lakes music and concert calendar website

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes has a new website dedicated to live music performances across the lakes area.

MusicinDL.com features a comprehensive calendar of performances at various bars and pubs, the Historic Holmes Theatre and local events in the lakes area.

Amy Stearns, founder of the artistic nonprofit, Project 412, said Detroit Lakes already has a vibrant live music scene, but sometimes people just don’t hear about shows until after they happen. She added MusicinDL.com aims to change that.

“So this all kind of came about because I love to hear, and listen to, and see live music whenever I travel somewhere,” said Stearns. “And I kind percolated on this idea that wouldn’t it be cool if there was a one-stop-shop where people could see all the music happening in Detroit Lakes.”

Promoters and venue managers can contact Project 412 by email to receive a password to their event submission portal, so they will be able to upload new shows as they are booked and the site will update the calendar automatically.

“As we see stuff, (Project 412) will add it too,” she said. “But it’s free and we want as much music out there and on the site as possible.”

She said she hopes more bar owners and venue operators fill out their already pretty full music calendar and the site becomes a useful resource for music lovers.

“Music can make your day so much better, I mean, isn’t there a song for every mood that you have,” said Stearns. “And to see these live performers perform both original music and covers, and I’m a huge fan of original music because it all has to get started somewhere. You never know when you’re going to get the next big hit. It’s really great to raise up these regional musicians … and it’s just fun. It’s a great thing to do for families, and individuals, and date night, you name it.”
