Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM) – Attendees of a June 9 Ice Cube concert at Northern Lights Casino in Walker, Minn., took to social media over the weekend to express their disappointment with the cancelation of the rain or shine concert with no refunds given due to severe weather.
According to multiple social media posts, Ice Cube performed one song before a severe weather event caused event staff to move the crowd indoors.
One attendee said the rain cleared through the area after about 45 minutes and many of the attendees returned to the outdoor concert venue to wait for the show to resume.
After nearly two hours waiting, the attendee stated, event organizers informed the crowd the show was postponed until a later date, which caused many of concert goers to return to the casino or depart for the evening.
However, at 10:57 p.m., Northern Lights Casino posted on social media the concert had been cancelled due to, quote, “circumstances beyond our control with the current weather conditions, also being in the path of another incoming storm.”
They post also stated, quote, “unfortunately, no refunds will be honored.”
Some attendees on various social media sites are calling for a boycott of Northern Lights Casino while others are discussing the possibility of a lawsuit, if attendees money is not refunded.
In a tweet posted just after 11 p.m. on June 9, Ice Cube said, quote,: “Apologies to all the people in Minnesota who came out to see me. Mother Nature had different plans. I’ll be back soon.”
