Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – More than 80 members of Heartland Orthopedic Specialists held their 11th annual Ortho Night Out on May 24 at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria.
Orthopedic experts learned about the latest technology and advancements in their field, which included the Mako robotic-arm system – a programmable surgical assistant to help orthopedists.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dennis Weigel said the Mako system allows surgeons better precision and natural movement during joint surgeries, which can lead to better health outcomes.
According to a news release, Heartland Orthopedic Specialists have performed more 2,300 successful assisted surgeries with the Mako robotic-arm system.
Heartland Orthopedic Specialist are based in Alexandria, but also operate outreach clinics in Willmar, Fergus Falls, Morris, Graceville and Wadena.
