Detroit Lakes parking lots to close June 8-9 for crack sealing

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Public parking lots along Veterans Memorial Parkway, Lakes Liquor and the multi-use parking lot behind the old police department will be getting crack sealing treatments beginning on June 8-9.

According to the Detroit Lakes Public Works department, on June 8 between midnight to 8 a.m., drivers should not park along Veterans Memorial Parkway, the electric vehicle charging area, or Lakes Liquor.

The following day, on June 9 between midnight and 8 a.m., drivers should not park in the multi-use business lot, just east of Washington Avenue, behind Roasted Pub and Eatery and Caribou Coffee.

The crack sealing process can be hazardous to nearby vehicles since it involves blowing the cracks clean with high air-pressure and then filling the cracks with hot rubber and a sealant.

The news release states the city will not be held responsible for damaged or towed vehicles during the parking lot closures.
