May 30th Baseball/Softball Tournament Recap:

(KDLM) – SECTION SOFTBALL RECAP, MAY 30th:

In the Section 5A semifinals, Mille Lacs beats Menahga 6-4 to send the Braves to the consolation bracket. In consolation play, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley beats Hinkley-Finlayson 3-2 to come out of the consolation bracket, but then lost to Menahga 5-2. Menahga will have a rematch with Mille Lacs in Pillager tomorrow. Menahga needs to win twice to advance to the State tournament.

In the 6A semifinals, Upsala beats Wheaton-Herman-Norcross 3-0 to advance to tomorrow’s section finals. In the 6A consolation bracket, Browerville edges Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 8-7, Parkers Prairie beats Lake Park-Audubon 8-6. Browerville then beat Parkers 6-2 to come out of the consolation bracket. They’ll face Wheaton-Herman-Norcross tomorrow at 1:00. The winner will advance to the 6A final against Upsala.

In the 8A semifinal, BGMR sends Red Lake Falls to the consolation bracket with a 5-4 victory. In 8A consolation play, East Polk beats Mahnomen/Waubun 2-1 to end the Thunderbirds season. East Polk will play Red Lake Falls tonight at 5:00 with a trip back to the 8A finals on the line. The 8A finals are tomorrow in Greenbush.

In 8AA, DGF beats Hawley 8-2 in the semifinal round. In the consolation bracket, Park Rapids beats Barnesville 3-2, Breck/Wahp over Thief River Falls 4-2. Breck/Wahp then beats Park Rapids 8-6. They’ll come out of the consolation bracket to face Hawley for a spot in the Section 8AA title game tomorrow.

In 8AAA, Rocori takes down Sauk Rapids-Rice 4-3 in the semifinal matchup. Little Falls beats Alexandria 7-5 in the consolation bracket, but then loses to Sauk Rapids-Rice 3-2 in the playback game. That sets up a Rocori vs Sauk Rapids-Rice rematch in tomorrow’s title game.

In 6AA, a big 12 over 5 upset as Staples-Motley takes down defending section champ Wadena-Deer Creek 9-5 yesterday to end the Wolverine’s season. The Cardinals will get four-seed Pierz tonight at Faber Field in St. Cloud at 7:00 after Pierz beat Sauk Center 9-0.
