Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Starting on Monday, June 5, road work will begin on Highway 34 between County Road 29, east of Detroit Lakes, and Highway 47, west of Osage.
According to a Minnesota Department of Transportation news release, drivers along Highway 34 will encounter daily lane closures, local detours and construction flag operators.
MnDOT advises drivers to use alternate routes unless they are trying to get to a location within the project area. They also said the detour will add about 20 miles to any route, but trying to travel through the work zone will also add time to any route.
Construction crews will be replacing a small bridge, culverts and complete 21 miles of road resurfacing as part of the project.
The road project is expected to be completed by September.
