Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Perham will be getting a new bakery in a couple months.
The Speckled Egg is currently still under construction in the old Office Supply building on Main Street in Perham with the hopes of opening over the summer.
However, the owner/baker of the Speckled Egg, Kateea Kysar, said she doesn’t want to wait for the store to open and plans to sell her baked goods at a special stand on Memorial Day, right next to Tru North in downtown Perham.
“Probably 8 a.m., I’ll open and start selling my baked goods and whatever is there, is there” said Kysar. “I’m not really sure how much to make, but I’m gonna make a lot just in case.”
Kysar said The Speckled Egg giftshop will be ready to open in a week or two, but they are still waiting for state final approval of the bakery operations.
“All we have left to do is the trim and then put some doors in and then the electrical needs to be down, the lights just need to be put up,” she said. “And then we’ll open the doors for (the giftshop).”
The Speckled Egg will feature various muffins, bagels, cinnamon rolls and cookies, among other items.
“I’m just excited,” said Kysar. “I’m excited to see everybody and open up and have a new bakery in town.”
